KHC M3 Ketone Breath Meter

Q: Why does my breath meter read 0.00 (Red Light)?

A. Have you tried testing in a fasted state (12-14 hours), after exercise or 1 hour after a high fatty meal for higher readings?

Ketones tend to sit at the bottom of our lungs, so you must blow gently from the end of your breath and take a light/medium breath before testing to get the majority of the ketones out. If your results are still not where you want them to be, then we suggest increasing your fat, lowering your carbs and balancing out your exercise routines.

Q: Why does my blood meter or urine sticks not match my breath meter readings?

A. The KHC M3 breath meter helps you determine how many ketones your body is using rather than how many ketones your body is creating. Which is why ketones in the blood and urine do not correlate with ketones (acetones) in the breath.

The KHC M3 breath meter detects acetone, which is a by-product once the liver breaks down fat in the liver. Acetones are not detected in blood and urine ketone measuring devices.

Q: What type of measurment does the breath meter use?

A. The KHC M3 breath meter uses mg/l as type of measurement to detect acetones in the breath.

This is not the same type of measurement used by blood and urine ketone devices as the breath meter detects acetone.

Q: What do my breath meter readings mean?

A. Please check out our blog article on What Levels Of Ketones Are Good For Weight Loss?

Q: Why are my readings different in the same time frame?

A. If you decide to use your breath meter multiple times within the same time frame, your ketosis state is determined by the highest reading. This is an indicator of the highest concentration of ketones sitting in the bottom of your lungs that you were able to blow out.

Please note that you should only be blowing into your device once every 3-5 minutes. Otherwise this can overload the sensor.

Q: Why does my breath meter give out unusual readings? or continue to countdown and not allow me to blow?

A. When using your device often, it is very common that the sensor needs to be reset if you are experiencing multiple count downs with no option to blow or unusual readings.

Please take out the batteries and leave to rest for 45 mins and try performing a test again.

If the device continues to cycle the countdown or give out unusual readings, then it will require 24 hrs resting period and maybe brand new batteries.

Please note that you should only be blowing into your device once every 3-5 minutes. Otherwise this can overload the sensor.

Q: Why does my breath meter get a reading from others not on the Keto Diet?

A. Please note that the KHC M3 Breath Meter is designed to only be used by those on the Keto diet as it would be impossible for us to distinguish what may or may not have triggered the sensor to get a reading.
